Bci – Dpi Susceptibility Tests on Can Networks at Equipment Level

This paper addresses the susceptibility of CAN networks to RF noise when applied to signal ports of a transceiver. The impact of RF interference on CAN is evaluated at equipment level in two measurement tests, injecting noise by means of DPI and BCI. The noise injection paths for the different tests are characterized and compared. The main factors contributing to noise rejection in CAN differential signaling are analyzed and communication failures due to a noisy environment are highlighted. The CAN bus immunity to interferences is characterized as a function of noise power vs. frequency, comparing transmitted and received signals from an analog point of view (IEC 62228).
